Flexible Circuit Boards Manufacturer
As flexible circuit board manufacturers, PCB Trace Technologies Inc. makes flexible and rigid-flex PCBs. Flexible circuits are PCBs that can bend, either once or many times. For instance, miniature camera manufacturers bend flexible circuits once when they install them in their cameras. Inkjet printers use flexible circuits that must bend multiple times, and sometimes, even continuously.
We make all types of flex PCBs—single-sided, double-sided, or multi-layered. For areas that must not flex, we provide stiffeners. We also make rigid-flex boards with flexible circuit sections interconnecting rigid sections, allowing them to flex while assembling.
Flex PCB Uses
OEMs are increasingly using flexible PCBs for electronic assemblies. The industries include manufacturers for:
- Tablets
- Computers
- Printers
- Avionics
- Military Electronics
- Cell Phones
- Cameras
- Automobiles
Flex PCB Advantages
Flexible circuits offer several advantages over regular rigid boards, ribbon cables, and discretely wired assemblies. Some of the advantages include:
- Reduction in overall project weight/size
- Reduction in assembly errors
- Increase in project reliability
- Improved control over inductance/impedance
- Improvement in heat dissipation
- Possibility of 3-dimensional packaging
- Improves project appearance
Flex PCB Issues
Based on requirement, we make flexible PCBs in a variety of odd shapes, and rarely in conventional rectangular sizes. After fabricating the flex board in panels, we separate them into individual boards by routing, skiving, or shaping. To ensure traces at the edges of the circuit remain undamaged during routing, we take care in the design and layout stages to provide adequate spacing between circuit traces and edges of the board. This also prevents damage to connections on the PCB and the flex board when installing the board.
We take special care when the flex board must bend continuously or dynamically. For instance, in multi-layered flex boards, we consider the different lengths of each layer at the bending section. Moreover, we also ensure that conductors in the bending section are not under fatigue when the board is flexing.
